Velvet Goldmine

I love the twenty-first century!  This is truly the age of new sensation.  If people weren’t constantly looking for new sensation, we wouldn’t have new inventions like the internet or blog.  Back to the subject of this entry, I saw Todd Haynes’ Velvet Goldmine today and I instantly fell in love with this film.  First, I want to thank Todd Haynes for including allusions of me and The Picture of Dorian Gray in the film.  I totally agree with one quote from the movie:

The secret of becoming a star is knowing how to behave like one.

Everyone has the potential to be a star.  They just need to know to act like one.  That is why I tried to bring fashion into the general public.  Everyone should be dressed well, especially men.  Fashion is not for women exclusively.  In fact, men have more right to fashion than women.  As Lord Henry said in The Picture of Dorian Gray:

And Beauty is a form of Genius – is higher, indeed, than Genius, as it needs no explanation.

But women are just a decorative sex.  They don’t deserve Beauty.

Back to Velvet Goldmine, Ewan McGregor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Christian Bale are so fashionable in the film.  Todd Haynes has outstandingly employed my philosophy in this film.  Brian Slade is constantly creating new sensation.  When he can no longer do so, he faked his own murder for the sake of art.  Good job, Todd Haynes!
